Privacy Policy

This page explains how Tropical Escape CR handles personal data, in line with Costa Rica Law No. 8968 on the Protection of the Individual against the Processing of their Personal Data, and its regulations. The supervising authority is PRODHAB (Agencia de Protección de Datos de los Habitantes).
Who is responsible
The data controller is the business Tropical Escape CR, operated by Jair Villarreal, Costa Rica. Contact: [email protected] or WhatsApp +506 7009 9447.
What data we collect
- When you write to us by email or WhatsApp: your name, phone number or email address and the content of your message. This site has no contact form; messages go directly through those channels.
- Basic visit statistics through our own cookie-less beacon (see Analytics below).
Why we use it, and on what basis
We use your message data only to answer your inquiry about the property and to follow up on it. We process it because you contact us voluntarily, which is your consent. We do not sell your data and do not use it for unrelated marketing.
Analytics notice
This site measures visits with its own small beacon. It sets no cookies and uses no third-party analytics. For each visit or click on WhatsApp, email, phone or social links it stores: the date and time, the event type, the page language and path, the referring site or campaign tag, a shortened IP address (the last part is removed, for example 203.0.113.0), and a short one-way hash of the browser's user-agent. This is used only to count visits and understand which channels work. The data is not used to identify you.
Who processes data for us
- Cloudflare, Inc. (USA): hosts the site and stores the visit statistics.
- WhatsApp / Meta and your email provider, when you contact us through them.
- Google Maps: the map loads only after you click to show it; Google then receives your IP address under its own privacy policy.
- Social network links (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn) only send data if you click them.
International transfers
Some of these providers are located outside Costa Rica, mainly in the United States. By contacting us you accept that your data may be processed there with the safeguards those providers apply.
Retention
We keep your messages for as long as needed to handle your inquiry and any resulting transaction, and then delete them when no longer needed. Visit statistics are kept only as long as useful for aggregate analysis.
Your rights
You may access, rectify or delete your personal data, and withdraw your consent, at any time (ARCO rights). Write to [email protected] stating what you want to do. We will reply within the legal deadlines. If you believe your rights were not respected, you can file a complaint with PRODHAB.
Minors
This site is not directed to people under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Updates
We may update this page. The current version is dated October 12, 2026.
